Sonam Wangchuk Inventions
Sonam Wangchuk born on 1 September 1966 in Uley Tokpo, Ladakh, India and the school studies on Vishesh Kendriya Vidyalaya, Delhi and National Institute of Technology (NIT), Srinagar and CRAterre School of Architecture, Grenoble, France. His qualification is B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering and Masters in Earthen Architecture.

Sonam Wangchuk is an engineer, innovator and education reformist
Sonam Wangchuk founded the Students’ Educational and Cultural Movement of Ladakh in 1988 it is a non-traditional school which brought in educational reform in the region and improved the number of students clearing exams up to intermediate level.
Sonam Wangchuk the engineer-turned educationist plans to set up a university as Himalayan Institute of Alternatives in Ladakh in Phyang Valley.
Wangchuk has joined hands with the crowdfunding platform Milaap to raise initial funding for the university.

Wangchuk made a significant contribution to the lives of people living in harsh conditions in the mountains and helping design and build several passive solar mud buildings in Ladakh, Nepal, and Sikkim to saving energy.
Wangchuk project Ice Stupa has fame from outside India with the aim of providing a solution to the farmers of Ladakh in the critical months.
Wangchuk with his team constructed a two-storey prototype of an ice stupa 2014 and they could store around 150000 litres of winter stream water to be used later.
