Kalire is umbrella-shaped and were earlier made of silver or coconut and makhana that are encrusted with dried beetle nuts and dry fruits. But now the modern kaliras are made of metal and studded with rhinestones. The Bangles as a snack to keep her from getting hungry since she had to travel long distances before she reached the bridegroom’s house for the wedding ceremony.
